PPSh-41 Submachine gun

PPSh-41 Submachine gun

Soviet PPSh-41 Submachine gun. This example is a DEWAT (De-activated war trophy), with solid cast aluminum receiver. It cannot fire or chamber ammunition but it is the exact weight, shape and size of an operative model.
The PPSh-41 was designed by Georgii Shpagin and was the most common small arm of the Second World War. About five million PPSh guns had been made by 1945, and the Soviets adapted their infantry tactics to take full advantage of such huge numbers: often complete units were armed with nothing else. In Russia, the PPSh went out of service in the late 1950s, but it had been supplied in enormous quantities to the satellite and pre-Communist countries, so that it was still be seen for many years. It was used by Chinese and North Korean armies in the Korean War.
